Busy boating weekend in western Massachusetts

NICK: WE’VE BEEN ENJOYING BEAUTIFUL SUMMER WEATHER IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS, AND IT MADE FOR A BUSY BOATING WEEKEND. 22NEWS REPORTER MIKE MASCIADRELLI SPOKE TO BOATERS WHO TOOK THEIR BOATS OUT ONTO THE WATERS IN HAMPSHIRE COUNTY. IT WAS A PERFECT DAY, COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE COOLER BUT IT WAS A GREAT DAY FOR THIS. WE CLOSED THE FINAL WEEKEND OF JULY WITH HOT SUMMER WEATHER IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS, AND MANY LOCAL RESIDENTS TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT BY BOATING AT THE OXBOW IN NORTHAMPTON. THOSE WHO WENT ONTO THE WATER MADE SURE TO LOAD UP ON THE SUNBLOCK AND DRINK A LOT OF WATER. HEATHER TEDEROUS: MAINE SNBLOCK LOTS OF SUNBLOCK AND STAYHING HYDRATED OUT HERE IS KEY . WE ARE JUST TRYING TO STAY HEALTHY. MIKE MASCIADRELLI: NORTHAMPTON IT WAS HOT SUNDAY BUT THAT DIDNT KEEP BOATING ENTHUSIASTS AWAY FROM THE OXBOW IN NORTHAMPTON. LOCAL BOATERS TOLD 22NEWS THE CONNECTICUT RIVER IS RUNNING A LITTLE BIT LOWER THAN NORMAL. JOHN BENJAMIN: OXBOW WATER SPORTS COMPLEX THE WATER IS LOW, ITS LOWER THAN NORMAL PROBABLY ABOUT A FOOT LOWER I’M LOOKING OUT THERE NOW AND PEOPLE ARE MOVING FREELY IN THE CHANNEL AND NO ONE IS TOUCHING THE BOTTOM OR GETTING CAUGHT.
