Cooking Tips : How to Pan Fry Orange Roughy Fish

January 14, 2020

To pan-fry Orange Roughy fish, first start
off with a pan set to medium-high heat, with a little bit of oil at the bottom of the pan.
Next, salt the Orange Roughy, and add any seasonings that you would like to it. From
here, place your Orange Roughy into the pan, laying it away from you so that the oil does
not splatter on you.
Next, you don’t want to move the Orange Roughy at all, or it will flake away. So let it cook
about 3 to 5 minutes or until it gets a nice brown crust on it. And that is how you pan-fry
Orange Roughy.

Are you sure you used enough cooking oil, one whole bottle doesn't look enough..

Yeah. Agreed. This is how my grandparents fry stuff. …then they insist that everything fried is soaked with oil, never crispy, never tasty. …yeah, less grease in this case, higher heat and at least some pepper for crying out loud… LOL

There are so many other more sustainable fishes to eat!

Stop eating this fish. They are long lived (130 years) and have very high mercury content, almost toxic and low in omega 3. They're very bland tasting. They reproduce very slowly and wil probably take a century to replenish. They will be gone if we don't stop harvesting them for profit. The lady in the video has NO idea how long it takes for the numbers to recover. It takes 20 years for the fish to even start reproducing and they can't because the trawlers drag away the reefs as they pass.
