Giant Squids plus a RARE GIANT SQUID!| Caught on Traditional HANDLINE FISHING in the PHILIPPINES

November 22, 2019

Good day to all. On this video you’ll see that we are catching not only one kind of squid. Please don’t forget to subscribe and give us a like if’ if you’ll like this video.’ And also please check out my brother’s channel “SEAFOOD ALLERGIC FISHERMAN”. The link is on the description below. The diamondback squids usually stay on the deepest part of the sea together with other creatures where the sunlight can no longer reach. This could on one the squids that the most ink in it. They might have went in the deep to avoid predators on the surface where they stayed and adapted the
life in the deep. I’m just a fisherman and these are just my opinions based on my observations. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on the comment section section. These squids are good to eat and people are ready to spend money to to have them. They are rarely seen on our local markets because they are being exported to other countries where the value is way much higher. What are left here to us are the heads and fins. Even if its hard to to retrieve from the deep it still feels good specially when there’s a catch. I hope that you’ll support us by subscribing and giving us a like so that we can improve our channels. Also please check out my brother’s channel ” Seafood Allergic Fisherman”. When there’s a squal we have to make our boat continuesly moving to not to move away from the next gear unlike when the water is calm. At last we have gaffed it. It is so hard filming this video, it’s out of focus because our boat is moving and we are afraid that one of us might be thrown out into the water and be hit by the propeller. I can feel that this might be a bigger one or a double hook up. I’m hoping that there are two of them. Our gaffs are now ready in case I’m right. If I’m right, it’s worth the effort because these could weigh more than 12 kilos each and the value would be good.’ Here they come, but I was wrong, there is only one and it’s a different squid. We call this squid “lanay” or “dagatan”. It has a very soft flesh like a jellyfish that is why we can’t gaff this and we have to use another way to land this on our boat. We will land this this out of curiousity to observe. My estimate is it’s about 12-15 kilos, it has slimey skin and it smells like a spoiled beer. The tentacles of this squid has so many hooks that look like a cat’s claw. There are weird parts at the ends of its longest tentacles. What are those? Maybe those are its weapons to fight off predators, this really weird. I remember the movie that has a giant squid that is called a kraken. Can this be a kraken (baby)? What do you think? We now have to put this back into the water. Comment down below whatever is on your mind about this giant squid. Thankyou
