I have coolant being sprayed all over by the belt so I'm assuming it's the water pump. I saw other youtube videos that recommend using something like K-seal. Will it work or should I just replace the water pump?

What if the car is a 300M (2000 to 2004) You cant see the water pump, its behind the TB cover. What happens when it starts leaking and you cant see it flippin leak cuz of this flippin design FLAW!!!!!

how long have you been working on cars I've seen water pumps with the impellers eat up so bad they wouldnt sufficiently move antifreeze to cool the engine properly.

  • Reply Zahira Brown June 17, 2018 at 3:30 pm

I have coolant just leaking out and when I pore more it just falls out

  • Reply 1life1loveforyou June 19, 2018 at 7:15 am

You can have a water pump the passes the seal test and still be bad because it's not circulating the antifreeze, the tabs on the impellers have all rusted off just spinning inside like a disc.

I started hearing a rattling and squeeky noise around where my water pump was located at . But wasnt sure where my noise was coming from. So i started using WD.-40 to make the noise go away. It did work by the way..
A few days pass as i was coming to a stop on a red light . I noticed and felt my car acting up. I immediately went into neutral and coasted. I pulled over and noticed water sprinkling over my engine. [ i have no water pump cover (i removed it)(or hood)]
i inspect my car for leaks and did not find any noticeable leaks.
Went home turned off the egine stepped out of my car. And heard crackling and steam noise. So i opened up my coolant resvoir and there was none. I opened up the radiator cap. And same none.. I filled the radiator with water, after it cooled down. … As i was pouring water onto the radiator, water was escaping from what it appeared to be the back of the engine block.
So my immediate thought was my heater core
.#1 the orings went bad. Or #2 one of my freezer plugs went out. BUT my engine block has no freezer plugs (d16z6) and if it did they would of been welded on. (20lbs of turbo) so.. i went to autozone and bought me 2 packs of that powder seal. And worked For about 4 days..
Then a day or 2 later i bought one of those copper liquid sealant solutions to seal up where ever the leak was coming from. And it worked a little.. earlier when i went to go get pizza. Another honda pulled up next to me . And so i decide to race. Asoon as i my boost kicked in at 2000 rpms my temperature went up like crazy.
Placed my car on neutral and coasted. Pulled over to chevron and poured water on to it. But this time water starter spraying all over my timing belts like crazy. So i wasnt sure if my gasket seal went bad for some magical reason.and water was hitting my belts making a fountain effect Or i cracked my block and same water pouring down onto my belts . I turned off my car and water still leaked but not alot as it did running. .I came home checked everywhere and found no leak.. after seeing your video. I can rest assure that my water pump went bad.
I thought it was my thermostat . . A cracked engine block. My heater hose.. but no. Thanks to this video. I now know for certain where my leak is coming from and why.
Thaks for you video. And thanks for reading

What if my 1965 Mercedes Benz 220s has a small leak on that little hole, but only when it is cold? as the engine warms up the coolant won't leak?

  • Reply Erica Zhu December 27, 2018 at 6:07 am

Because the car pump is connected with the belt to extract the cold water in the water tank, if the rotational resistance of the pump is affected, it will directly affect the engine speed, and there will be a situation of unstable speed. The main manifestation is that the speed of the car is unstable after starting, and if the resistance is very large, it may also occur the phenomenon of flame out, which mostly occurs in winter.

    Does the pump leaks coolant?

  • Reply CD ROD January 11, 2019 at 8:20 pm

    I have a weird problem.
My 99 camry is not blowing hot air so i replace the thermostat, that fixed the problem but now the car overheats.
Put the old thermostat back and is back to the way it was.
Is that a sign of a bad water pump?

Coolant flushes kill a water pump! Same thing goes for Prestone antifreeze, the worst garbage out there.I noticed even years ago when I was a kid,my dad swore by Prestone antifreeze, and was replacing water pumps OFTEN!!!

Bad water pump? You’re looking at $350. for repairs and labor!

  • Reply nate fidalgo March 12, 2019 at 8:41 pm

Is there anyway to diagnosis a bad water pump without removing and inspecting? Perhaps an easy way to measure flow rate or something i don't want to touch it but just rule it out.

My 2005 Honda Civic EX with 113000 miles has some sort of small leak in the front end, and the engine hesitates mostly after shifting to 3rd gear (auto trans.) Then starts to gain power again. Not a transmission problem, but water pump and timing?
