Welcome to gorgeous Southern California! I’m
Marieve. Join me today as we explore the area that surrounds Los Angeles County, and discover
all the fantastic outdoor activities you can do here!
Located 160 kilometers north east of Los Angeles is the beautiful San Bernardino National Forest,
a true paradise for nature lovers and where you’ll find Big Bear Lake and Lake Arrowhead.
Whether it’s a family vacation or a romantic getaway, both lakes offer an incredible variety
of accommodations at all price points, from picturesque camping spots to luxurious lodges.
If you’re here in the summer, enjoy a plethora of water sports from canoeing and kayaking
to fishing and boating. You can hike and bike or horseback ride in the tranquil surrounding
forests. You can even pack in some thrills with zip lining.
And in the winter, Big Bear Lake area offers downhill and cross country skiing, and snowboarding.
There’s also the charming Big Bear Lake Village to explore anytime. If you’re looking for some skiing or mountain
biking on a larger scale, come visit Mammoth Lakes, a 5-hour drive north of Big Bear, or
a short flight from Los Angeles. A wide variety of biking trails and downhill ski runs await
you here, including one almost five kilometers long. Mammoth Lakes is a true mecca for outdoor
activities, set with a breathtakingly scenic backdrop.
Now, if you’re ready for some high-speed outdoor activities of a different type, you’ll
love visiting Fontana. Car enthusiasts will be thrilled to visit the Auto Club Speedway
of California. Since 1997, this just-over 5-kilometer track has hosted NASCAR and other
professional racing events, which offer a full day of entertainment for the whole family.
There are even special events where you can go for a ride along as a professional driver
zips around the track. Be sure to plan ahead and check the schedule for up-to-date race
information! Are you ready to get outside and get active?
If so, pack your athletic gear and head to Southern California!
