    Welcome to the M & Craft channel. In this video I will make a cardboard boat. Enjoy . We need cardboard. I’m starting to create the center of the ship. I’ll do the cutting with the scissors and the catter. I’ll make the bridge. Attach the two pieces with the soldering gun. Then we measure and adapt supporting elements. After cutting we stick to strengthen the frame of the ship. Above these frames we glue cardboard strips with a width of 2 cm. I’ll do the front. I use matches to make the mast. We’ll stick more in one place. Stick the mast on the deck. From cardboard I will make small pieces that I will glue on the deck. We attach matches on the front of the decks, a few layers. Then we glued a strip of cardboard to the back of the ship. I use matchboxes for a nicer look. I’ll make two smaller rectangles and stick them over the box. I cross the back of the ship. In the meantime I made 2 masts one in front and the other in the back. From paper I will make the fabric (canvas) of the ship. We measure the center and glue 3 strands of different sizes. Then I’ll stick them to the masts I’ll stick sticks on the edge of the paper. We attach strands of yarn, from the ship and then to each mast and canvas. We attach the wires to each cloth separately. I will color the front and back of the deck with acrylic watercolors. Then we paint the matchboxes in black. We make a few black dots on the bridge surface. We stick the ship on a piece of polystyrene. We make a small cut for a better attachment. I use the brown lake to paint the outside of the boat. I use glue for gluing sand to polystyrene. Dry sand. I’ll make pots. I’ll stick them on the boat. I draw a flag of Romania, which I will stick to the front. I stick the flag on a stick. Then I color the flag. I color the polystyrene sides.     a dye is a cube or for this discussion a
    box that has six sides one two three four five six so when we make a box we
    need to make each one of these six sides again a box is six sided the challenge
    is to start out with something flat like this piece of paper and end up with
    something three-dimensional like this so what I’m going to do is I’m going to use
    this box and trace each of the faces under this paper just so we can kind of
    try to get our heads around it so we’ve got the six phases of the box
    transferred on to a piece of paper and I did it in such a way that each face is
    connected to the other much like our cardboard box will be there will be some
    differences but I thought this is a good place to start here is a random
    cardboard box we can look at how this is put together it has a link it has a
    width and it has a height anyone face of the box is made up of two of those three
    dimensions in each face of the box is made up of two of those three dimensions
    the top length times width one side length times height or width times
    height so if one and six or the top and the bottom they will be made up of link
    by width and each of the sides will be made up of height by width height by
    length and alternating height by width and height by links so let’s look at how
    a commercial box is put together they double or nearly double the top and the
    bottom with two sets of flaps to get double cardboard and so that makes the
    box stronger this design is also an efficient use of material box can be
    collapsed if you buy a new box many times it comes like this here is where
    the box is glued to itself you can see right here where two ends of the
    cardboard come together and it’s been glued together here so let’s deconstruct
    this right here is a tag so this tab is glued
    here and this is typically how you will see boxes stored and delivered so you
    can see that the typical cardboard box comes from one flat piece of cardboard
    faces and flaps and how they fold together all right so we can see that
    this flat piece can make a box but this super simplistic way of laying it out is
    not the best way to make a box that’s going to go into the shipping system so
    let’s look at how we can modify this layout to a layout that is more like how
    a standard box is laid out flaps are better when they meet each other in the
    middle I’m basically going to divide these two flaps in half this is one a this is one B so this is
    6a and this is 6b two halves of the same
    side that’ll look something like this we’re gonna add additional flaps for
    strength and to more closely represent what we find in commercially made boxes so when you need to come up with what
    are the specific links with height requirements you need to consider what
    it is that you’re going to put in the box so if we’re going to put this camera
    in a box you will get a length a width and a height measurement in addition to
    the measurement of the contents you’re gonna want to allow some space for
    packaging you want enough space for adequate packaging but you don’t want
    any more room than that once this is packed inside the box you don’t want
    there to be any sort of movement you need to allow enough space for packing
    to go on all six sides and don’t forget the bottom your box will at some point
    be upside down sideways and it will get tossed around a bit so you want to have
    cushion on all six sides of your contents with absolutely no movement I’m
    going to pretend that my box needs to be three inches by four inches by five
    inches so my pretend box there’s going to be five inches long three inches wide
    and four inches high I’ve started with the piece of a recycled cardboard that’s
    kind of the way I like to roll and just one tip is if you’re using a box like
    this that already has creases and cuts in it try to adopt as many of those as
    you can so I’m gonna start right here on this fold and this fold with
    just cut basically my flaps are gonna be out here this is gonna be a corner of
    two of my faces so 5 inches long 3 inches wide 5 inches long 3 inches wide
    the height of my box is 4 inches when I make the flaps for this side they need
    to go halfway across this side so because this side is 3 inches wide this
    flap needs to be half of that or inch and a half now I need flaps for these 2
    sides and I would like for them to go halfway across these sides since this is
    5 inches across these flaps will be half that or two and a half so there’s the
    four sides and all the flaps to make the top and all the flaps to make the bottom
    and a tab so now we’re going to cut this out we’re going to cut out the full
    perimeter of the box and then we’ll cut only the lines between the flaps now we just need to fold this up
    cardboard doesn’t necessarily want to fold just like you want it so it needs
    to be kind of coaxed along and the way I do that is with a bone folder I like to score the cardboard a little bit I just
    want to make a slight indention or crease so then when you bend it it it
    tends to want to follow that all right everything’s pre-scored and
    bent and so now you can just hot glue that tab right there you can tape it too
    and you don’t even have to have this you can just tape that one seam but this is
    how boxes are made so that’s why I’m going to do that today so there we go
    here’s some of the tools I recommend get yourself some good packing tape you’ll
    need a steel rule this is just a retractable blade knife that uses
    carpenter blades that’s nice you can refill them and they’re always sharp not
    very expensive real handy and then the bone folder so all this stuff I’ll have

    How to Make a Simple Pop Pop Boat

    Today I’m going to show you how to make a really
    cool candle powered pop pop boat using household items. To make it we’re going to need an empty drinks can,
    some Blu-Tack, 2 straws and an empty juice carton. First we’re going to make the boiler, and
    we’ll start by taking the Coke can cutting off the top and bottom with a pair of
    scissors, and turning it into a flat sheet. Then we’ll cut a straight line down one edge, and from
    that mark out a rectangle 6cm wide by 18cm long. Be very careful not to cut yourself. Once we’ve cut that out we need to gently fold it in half, but don’t
    push down hard on the fold as we don’t want it to tear. Next we need to mark out a 1cm
    line around one half of the boiler and cut it out with our scissors, so we
    should now have something which looks like this. Next we’re going to take out Bu-Tack, warm it up in our hands
    and roll it out into a long worm about 0.5cm fat. Then we’re going to open up our boiler pattern and stick the
    Blu-Tack onto the 2 outside edges of the smaller half. Next we’re going to fold it in half, remembering
    not to push down hard on the fold and stick the two halves together. Then we’re going to take a bit more
    Blu-Tack and put it on the edges. It should look like this. Next we’re going to fold over the tabs on both sides, and gently crimp
    it all the way up with some pliers to form a seal. Then we need to take our scissors and cut off the
    excess tab to leave one long tab along the bottom. Next we’re going to take our Blu-Tack and push
    it into a flat strip about 1cm wide. Then we’re going to wrap it around the end of
    one of the straws, followed by the second. Add a bit more until the straws are well
    sealed in a good plug of Blu-Tack. Next we’re going to open up the end of the
    boiler, be very careful not to cut your fingers and push in the straws and Blu-Tack plug. Add a bit more Blu-Tack to form a good
    tight seal. It should look like this. Then we’re going to take our scissors and cut the
    bottom tab along each side of the straws. Next fold the tabs over and give them a squeeze with some
    pliers, but be careful not to rip the metal. Our boiler is not complete. Next we need to test it’s air tight by dipping it into
    a bowl of water and gently blowing through the straws. If you see any air leaking, give that area a
    gentle squeeze with the pliers and try again. To make the boat we’re going to take our empty juice carton, mark out and
    draw a line down the middle of it, and cut it in half. To make the cabin for the inside of the boat, cut
    the bottom off the half with the plastic lid. or if you have another empty juice carton, you can cut
    the bottom off that to make a slightly bigger cabin. I’ve also cut out some windows and we’ll be fixing that in place later. Next we need to cut a small hole in the bottom
    of the boat for the 2 straws to go through. This should be roughly half way up the carton an in the middle. Then we need to put a thin ring of
    Blu-Tack around the hole on both sides. Next we’re going to take our boiler and
    poke the 2 straws through the hole. Then we’re going to fix the straws firmly in place to the
    bottom of the boat with a strip of tape, Making sure the straws run to the back
    of the boat and are central. Then cut the straws off flush with the back of the boat. Next using a stapler we’re going to fix the cabin in place. And finally we need to make sure the Blu-Tack rings around
    the straws are pushed together to form a good seal. Our boat is now water tight and complete, but to use
    it we first need to prime the boiler with water. To do this we’re going to take one of
    our straw off cuts and snip the end. Then we’re going to poke it into one of
    the straws at the back of the boat and with a mouth full of clean water, blow water through
    the system until it comes out of the other straw. The boiler is now primed and ready to use. All we need to do now is drop a candle under the middle of the
    boiler, put it into the bath, and wait for it to warm up. It shouldn’t take long for the boiler to start popping, and off she goes. After a while you might find that the boiler leaks and doesn’t work properly,
    in which case you might need to seal it with some more Blu-Tack. Or if you have any you could make a
    boiler using epoxy glue rather then Blu-Tack. This is far more durable and should last a lot longer. You can paint your boat using a waterproof acrylic paint if you like, you
    can also spray it with a waterproofing lacquer to help protect it. But make sure it’s completely dry before you use it. If it’s taking a while to get going, try dropping a second
