REPORTER: IT HAS BEEN AN EXHAUSTING WEEKEND FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT. MINUTES BEFORE THIS VIDEO SHOT THIS GROUP WAS IN A FRANTIC SEARCH. WE ARE HOPING THAT WE COULD SEE HIS HEAD. REPORTER: THE LIEUTENANT WAS FLAGGED OUT WHEN A 48-YEAR-OLD MAN SAILING WITH HIS FATHER GOT HIT BY THE BOOM AT THE BASE OF THE SALE, APPARENTLY IT HAD TIED DOWN. THE DAD TRIED TO THROW A PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICE OUT, IT DIDN’T WORK. REPORTER: THE FATHER COULDN’T GET THE MOTOR TO START, SO THE BOAT AND HIS SON DRIFTED APART. IT WAS VERY DENSE. WE HAD JUST DEALT WITH ONE THIS MORNING. REPORTER: A FEW HOURS EARLIER TIME TEAMS PULLED ANOTHER BODY FROM THE WATER AFTER CALLING OFF THE SEARCH TWICE FOR DANGEROUS WATER CONDITIONS. IT WAS HARD FOR OUR BOATS TO STAY IN PLACE. REPORTER: THEY FOUND THE MAN CLOSE TO WHERE HE WENT UNDER. THE SWIMMER SAVED HIS STRUGGLING FRIEND BY HANDING OVER AND LIFE VEST. IT DOESN’T TAKE MUCH TO GET YOU PULLED OVER — UNDER. REPORTER: BOTH MEN WERE BROUGHT BACK TO THE DOCK WITHIN AN HOUR OF ONE ANOTHER AND NEITHER WERE WEARING A LIGHT TEST.
